The PFC Trust, working together with friends and partners, is looking to appoint a new Link Worker

A LOCAL charity focused on helping the people of Hartlepool is ready to turn its focus on tackling mental health problems created by Covid-19.

The PFC Trust, working together with friends and partners, is looking to appoint a new Link Worker. It wants the new employee to support those aged 11-18 who are feeling the strains of the pandemic.

It is hoped the approach will see relationships built up between the new hire and the young people based on mutual trust for the latter to be supported every step of the way.

Shaun Hope, the PFC Trust’s chairman, said: “The PFC Trust is passionate about Hartlepool and passionate about supporting our young people to enjoy happy, fulfilling lives.

“That’s why we are so proud of securing this funding with our friends and partners in Hartlepool Borough Council, the Tees, Esk and Wear Valley NHS Foundation Trust, Hartlepool Youth Service - and the Hartlepool Healthy Communities Network.

“The funding will be used to employ a full-time Link Worker that will work specifically with young people to tackle the impacts the pandemic has brought to their mental health.

“Projects like this, where multiple partners come together to provide solutions to the challenges our town is facing give us a sense of optimism and positivity for Hartlepool.”

The partners have been instrumental in securing the funding for this project.

The PFC Trust, which has already helped an incredible amount of people across the town, wants to explore all opportunities available to help the young.

Those interested in applying for the new role are expected to have interpersonal and communication skills, ability to network, have a commitment to equality and social inclusion, be highly organised, be creative and have enthusiasm and optimism.

It is requested that applicants have a Level 3 or above in youth work or equivalent or are currently undertaking such a qualification.

The Link Worker position will be a 12-month contract initially based on 37 hours a week with an annual salary of £21,439 (pro rata for job sharing). The post-holder is expected to travel extensively throughout Hartlepool and further afield as necessary.
