COUNTDOWN ON!

The countdown is on to the first Hartlepool Heroes awards being held in just a couple of weeks’ time and everyone in with a chance of winning has been notified.

More than 300 nominations were made and the judges have come up with a shortlist for each of the 11 categories ahead of a huge night for the town at the Borough Hall on Thursday, July 7th.

It promises to be an incredible evening when Hartlepool will celebrate the amazing work being done in the community by people who go the extra mile.

Event organisers the PFC Trust along with partners Hartlepool Borough Council, Jill Mortimer MP, HartlePower, Poolie Time Exchange, Hartlepool Carers and media partner Hartlepool Life have been delighted with the response.

Shaun Hope, the PFC Trust chairman and assistant principal at Hartlepool College, said: “The judging panel was thrilled with the nominations we received. There were more than 300 nominations and that made it a very difficult shortlisting process.

“After much deliberation we have now selected three or four shortlisted nominees in each of the categories and we have communicated to all of those ahead of the event.

“We are now all excited for a really special evening – preparations are going very well.

“I would just like to place on record our huge thanks to the sponsors and the people of Hartlepool for really getting behind this. It shows we have so many people out there who deserve to be celebrated.”

Each category on the night is sponsored by a local company.

Hartlepool Council Adult Services, Hartlepool United Football Club, Seymour Civil Engineering, Tata Steel, Sheraton Group and Artistic Solutions are all sponsoring an award.

As are GT3, DESCO, BGP (combined to sponsor one), Orangebox Training, Phoenix2retail and Hartlepool Carers, while Surface Smart and Crafty Monkey are sponsoring the drinks reception.

Hartlepool-based Artistic Solutions, a technical production company servicing the North-East and UK, is sponsoring the People’s Choice award.

Jo Brobbel, managing director, said: “Myself and the team are extremely excited and proud to be sponsoring this unique award. “The Hartlepool Heroes People’s Choice award really does depict the very essence of what this celebratory evening is all about. “Each and every one of the nominees deserves a huge round of applause for their incredible contribution, dedication and hard work and we wish them all the very best of luck.”

Tata Steel Hartlepool 20” Mill, which manufactures steel pipes and sections for the construction and energy sectors globally, is sponsoring the Health Care Hero award. Dawn Campbell, HR manager at Tata Steel Hartlepool, said: “We are proud to be part of Hartlepool Heroes and specifically sponsor the Healthcare Hero award on the backdrop of two very challenging years with the ongoing pandemic.

“Hartlepool and the wider Teesside area has a long steel making heritage and we are proud to support this great cause.”
