“Every year the standard of entries is extremely high, which is testament to the incredible work that goes on across the town to develop sporting talent.

“I’m sure this year will be no different and after everything that has gone on over the last 18 months it will be special to mark the outstanding achievements of many at our annual awards night on November 18.”

The PFC Trust, the charity created to help the people of Hartlepool, is heavily associated with the annual awards and provides funding for athlete bursaries where required.

The bursary athlete funding is open to applications before Friday, October 8th at 5pm. It is intended for people who are gifted in their chosen sport. It enables them to compete at the highest level and aims to help achieve maximum potential.

Successful applicants competing at a regional, national or international level are eligible to apply for support towards travel expenses, coaching fees, specialist equipment, sports kit and competition fees.

The PFC Trust and the Sports Council have also linked up to redirect some funding to help support priority groups in being active and re-engage with physical activity and sport.

Clubs from across Hartlepool are invited to become members of the sports council to access the Athlete Bursaries and Community Fund Micro Grants and to make nominations to the Annual Awards. Membership is £20-a-year.
