Organisers of the first ever UChangeLives Golf Day have thanked supporters for making the event such a huge success after raising more than £40,000 for charity.

The PFC Trust, the Hartlepool-based charity renowned for supporting good causes in the area, worked together with North East STEM Foundation to bring supporters, businesses and community members together for a fun-filled day.
The funds raised from the event at Seaton Carew Golf Club will be split between the Trust and the Foundation, helping to transform lives in the local community.
And the winning team from Verso Financial Management, led by Seaton Carew Golf Club’s very own captain Phil Cain, celebrated winning the fantastic first prize of a four-day stay at next year’s Open Championship at Royal Portrush.

There wasn’t to be a winner of the Bristol Street Motors car that was up for grabs for anyone hitting a hole-in-one at the sixth hole, however.

Frances Connolly, founder of the PFC Trust, was thankful to everyone who participated and made the event possible and made extra special by former Liverpool and England international John Barnes handing out the prizes.
“We’re absolutely thrilled with the success of our first UChangeLives Golf Day,” said Frances.
“The support we’ve received from local businesses, volunteers, and participants has been overwhelming.
"I'd also like to say a big thank you to Rephrase's Paul Fraser for the initial idea and to Seaton Carew Golf Club for their incredible hospitality to help make our first golf day memorable.
“This event is a reminder of what can be achieved when communities come together with a shared goal of making a positive impact.
“Every pound raised will go directly towards supporting those who need it most, and we’re so proud to work alongside the North East STEM Foundation to inspire future generations.”
The charity golf day, which saw 19 teams of four compete on one of the oldest and top-rated golf courses in England, was more than just an opportunity for a round of golf.
The money raised will help the PFC Trust continue its work supporting people and organisations in the area, while the North East STEM Foundation will use the proceeds to promote educational opportunities for young people in STEM subjects, aiming to close the skills gap in the region.

Tania Cooper, chair of the North East STEM Foundation, highlighted the importance of the partnership and the impact the donations will have.
“We were honoured to partner with the PFC Trust for the first UChangeLives Golf Day,” said Tania, who is also the managing director of Steel Benders UK, which took part in the event.
“It was a fantastic day, the weather was perfect and it isa fantastic initiative. The funds raised will make a tangible difference to the lives of young people here in the North East.
“Encouraging more young people to engage in STEM education is vital for the future of our region, and we’re excited to use these funds to provide opportunities that can open doors and change lives.”

UChangeLives is a campaign running throughout September and the golf day was one of the featured activities. There will also be a CEO Country House Sleep-out in partnership with North East STEM Foundation and a 24-hour sponsored swim.
The PFC Trust is encouraging individuals and groups to organise their own fundraising activities, with a 50/50 split of proceeds between the Trust and chosen charities or groups.
